It is Jen, the Beanie Baroness myself coming to you pre-recorded from my office, where I happen to have a stash of beanies for your seasonal perusal. Today we are starting with our best friend and neighbor to the south; the bear that we could not live a day without! Osito the Mexican, and I have a horrible accent, I'm sorry. Yo accente es mal… unless I'm ordering food. Osito! I don't even know what Osito is supposed to mean. Who are you supposed to be?
Look at these armbies! Osito is a nice hot red color, and I like this ribbon because the green gradient kind of makes it look like the lime on the rim of a margarita glass. You know? Limey and yellowey, and I think that's kind of cool.
For some reason, Osito was born on the 5th of February, and not the 5th of May, otherwise known to drunkards as Cinco de Mayo. I do not know why they missed that opportunity, but they did.

He has the Mexican flag on his chest and was part of a USA exclusive collection called the International Collection. which is a little bit ironic. As far as I know, I don't have any of the other international bears. I don't know what the name Osito means. I tried to look it up. It feels a little… On the nose in a way. I've also never heard it before. I don't think it's anything, I think it's just a little bit of microracism of the time.
Oh, look at this embroidery here!

Across the waters of the Rio Grande,
lies a beautiful and mystic land… Mmm. I don't like that rhyme… Across the waters of the Rio Grande lies a bee-yoo-tiful and mystic land.
A place we all should plan to go,
known by us all as— No, they didn't even do that one right okay.
A place we all should plan to go,
known by all as Mexico.

Did you know that donors and subscribers get to hear a lot more? to find out what about, visit our substack or gift shop. Just in time for a hangover, Osito is available with a $5 donation. Visit our gift shop at Beanies4Screenies for more options! This project is shelved because everybody I gave it to, everybody I asked, said no. I think it’s great. I mean, obviously I think it’s great, I wrote it. (Though there are some things that I’ve written that I don’t think are very good.) The more I rewrite Payout, the better I feel like it is. Why am I rewriting it so much? I’m rewriting it so much because I keep wanting to give it to people just so they can tell me no again.
Why do people say no? What’s it about that makes people say no? Well right now it’s a rom-com about a brother and sister-in-law team who sets about ruining the girl’s best friend’s wedding. But this script started over 20 years ago as a quieter rom-com that could have been a stage play in its simplicity; There were only a couple of locations, one of them was the male lead’s apartment which had a fantastic view of downtown Atlanta. Even though I started writing the story well before I moved to Atlanta, when I moved there, I said, oh this is the skyline that is supposed to be out that guy’s window.
(I never made it there.)
Well why does she want to break up her best friend’s wedding?

Subscribe now

It is I, the Beanie Baroness, coming to you with an audio update that we can call pre-production update number one. I have been working; yesterday I was on set in terrible weather, trying to make money, learning a lot.
I didn’t even get a chance, I don’t know if anybody’s been keeping tabs on the actual work output I’ve had here at Beanies 4 Screenies headquarters, but I never even completed the Olympic themed winter sports pack. I just forgot, it just fell out of my grasp because I had so much work to do.
That being said, I have posted online but I haven’t gotten such a good response so I want to reach out to my, the people who know me in general:
I am now hiring what I would call an “intern,” so if you have a teenager, a young adult, a very smart dog, or ten-year-old who just needs like a hundred bucks to buy video games, I’m now hiring.
I’m looking for an intern, primarily someone who can copy and paste information and materials that I create. But I need time to create them; copy-pasting and waiting for things to load takes up such a large portion of creative time. I need somebody who has the ability to take the 20 minutes out of their day with material that I have taken the 20 hours out of my day to create. It’s really just those last little bits, it has nothing to do with creativity. To keep it simple, I’m gonna put the ad I posted on Craigslist in the body of this post.
We’re seeking an online, observant, and trend-aware administrative intern to assist the CCO with market research, spreadsheet management, and social media. Not a content creation gig but ideas and skills are welcome!
Ideally, the role will be less than 5 hours a week, mostly virtual to start. The first task would be fixing our Facebook page because I have no idea what our CFO did. After that, I will probably ask you to look up something random and put results in a spreadsheet, then come up with some hashtags based on current events. Otherwise, we are looking to build duties around the skillset of the intern and hours/tasks/credits needed. Non-students are welcome, however we cannot offer fulltime pay at this time.
The position comes with potential for growth, a flexible schedule (work from home or from your other job), and potential reimbursement on pre-approved business purchases. PLUS occasional fun things like nights out, random free stuff, and haircuts. (Prefer 21+ for event attendance, will consider younger.)
To apply, please email your educational situation, work history, and details of availability. (Personal computer required for work with Google services.) Please use the subject INTERN and include a brief response to this query: In these present conditions, should a small business maintain a TikTok?

There is more behind the paywall! Donate to listen by subscribing at Substack or selecting your thank-you gift at beanies4screenies.com. And always remember personal gifts are tax-free up to a million dollars.
